Proposed cuts threaten new Better Brodhead program

Not even one year into new anti-substance abuse initiatives, Better Brodhead staff are bracing against possible federal funding cuts.
Proposed cuts include the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy, which dispenses grants to reduce drug use and drug trafficking.
A federal Drug Free Community grant brought new staff member Brielle Powers on board to coordinate the grant project for Better Brodhead in December last year. Powers underwent orientation with Better Brodhead Program Manager Kathy Comeau on Dec. 15. She’s been at work less than 2 months, researching drug prevention and other material important to the project and meeting with other community leaders to collaborate on initiatives.
