Robert S. Karstetter, 83
BELOIT – Robert S. Karstetter, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at Premier Rehab with his family at his side. Bob was born Oct. 7, 1931 to the late Frank and Clara Mae (Sloan) Karstetter in Wonewoc, Wis.
He enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps. On March 1, 1951 and served his Country until his honorable discharge on Dec. 1, 1954.
Bob was a member of the Darien Masonic Lodge 126. He was and lifelong farmer and longtime truck driver. Bob loved his family and played an active, playful role in raising his two children.
He embraced his responsibilities as a provider and role model. Bob loved to dance and enjoyed the social aspects of family gatherings. He was always willing to help a friend or neighbor in need and truly lived an honest respectful life.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Denise Moe of Clinton; his son, Dan (Tammy) Karstetter of Beloit; four grandchildren, Andrew Callas, Dylan Callas, Staci Karstetter & Cory Karstetter; his five sisters, Florence Wallmuth, Gladys Austin, Arlene Fast, Marlene Held and Shirley (Lloyd) Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son in law, Ross Callas, his longtime companion Ella Gilland, his two brothers, Paul & Bill Karstetter and his sister Leta Zeich.
The family would like to thank Dr. Leo, Dr. Vogel, Dr. Fitzgerald and the staff at Premier care for the care they gave our father.
Bob’s Funeral Service will be 11a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church, 23184 Bergen Road, Poplar Grove, Ill. with Pastor Thomas G. Groth officiating.
Friends will be received on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 in the Brian G. Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Pkwy., Beloit from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Friday at Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Full military Burial Rites and Internment will take place in Jefferson Prairie West Cemetery. A memorial is being established in his name. Please share a memory of a condolence with the Karstetter family on our website.
