Rollyn “Rolly” E. Affeldt, 82
BELOIT – Rollyn “Rolly” E. Affeldt, 82, of Beloit died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 in his home. He was born Oct. 3, 1932 to the late Robert G. and Aurelia (Streich) Affeldt in Beloit.
Rolly graduated from Beloit High School, class of 1950 and completed his education at Bradley University, earning a B.S. in Engineering.
He married Charleta L. Beebe on Aug. 21, 1954 in Watseka, Ill. He was employed at Mid States Concrete as an architectural engineer for 40 years until his retirement in 1995.
Rolly was a longtime member of Atonement Lutheran Church, serving his Church community in virtually every known position.
Rolly served as council President, Sunday School Superintendent and faithful behind the scenes contributor and used his talents to oversee the many projects under taken at the church.
Rolly was a life member of Kiwanis International; a member of the Kiwanis of Greater Beloit Evening Club. He served the local division as Club President many times, Lt. Governor and Builders Club Chair.
At the District Level of Wisconsin-Upper Michigan he served as an officer of the Lt. Governor Council. Kiwanis District Board Life member as well as officer on the board.
Rolly was presented with a George F. Hixson Fellow for his service to the Kiwanis work that he performed. Rolly attended 23 International Conventions, making friends world wide that he treasured to the very end.
He is survived by his wife, Charleta Affeldt of Beloit, his three children, Karen Affeldt of Beloit, Kenneth (Maribeth) Affeldt of Cornwall, NY and Karla (Bob) Junig of Beloit; his four grandchildren, Jessica (Phil) Severson, Jennifer (Eric) Hoffmann, Joshua Junig and Grace Affeldt; his sister, Arlene Ruegger, his brother, Arlyn (Jean) Affeldt and his sister in law, Bette White, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, Robert Charles Affeldt, his infant brother, Wilmer Affeldt, his three brothers in law, Richard Ruegger, Bernard Justus and James White and his father and mother in law, Charles J. Beebe and H. Lucile Watson Beebe.
The family would like to thank his special caring friends, Delores Jones, Marilyn Dixon and Debbie Vance and the staff at Beloit Regional Hospice for the care they gave Rolly.
Rolly’s Funeral Service took place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the Brian G. Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Pkwy., Beloit with Rev. Tina Koenig Ray officiating.
Friends were received on Tuesday in the Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment followed in Eastlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established to benefit the Engineering School at Bradley University and the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan Kiwanis Foundation. Please share a memory or a condolence with the Affeldt family on our website.
