Run with the Therapy Horses of SMILES
A unique event to benefit the special needs clients of SMILES (Special Methods in Learning Equine Skills, Inc.) is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, at the SMILES facility in Darien. This special event includes a 5K Fun Run/Walk with family friendly Trick or Treat stations and costume competitions. In addition to the regular cross-country course, an adaptive course for wheelchairs, walkers and strollers will also be available. The post-race party will include the music of Kayla Hawkins. This event provides enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy a cross-country race course, crisp autumn weather, post-race prize giving, and a chance to “run with horses” of the SMILES Therapeutic Riding Center.
