RUTH E. ARNESON

Ruth E. Arneson, 90, of Janesville, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2017, at Evansville Manor.

Ruth was born in Newark Township, Rock County, the youngest of ten children of Lewis and Ida (Olmstead) Heyerdahl. She graduated from Orfordville High School. Ruth married Melvin C. Arneson on May 22, 1946, at First Lutheran Church in Janesville. Together, they owned and operated the Arneson Appliance Store in Orfordville and later in Brodhead for many years.

An Orfordville resident for most of her life, she and Melvin moved to Janesville in 2007.

She was a member of Faith Community Church. She loved bowling, traveling, and spending winters in Florida, which is something she and her husband did for 20 years.

Survivors include her husband of over 71 years, Melvin; one son, Kim (Julie) of Janesville; six grandchildren, Lindsay (Jim), Nick (Sheila), Brittany (Josh), Courtney (Ron), Jordan, and Jessica; and numerous great-grandchildren, including Livia, Jacob, Harmony, and Malakai.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Inez, Mildred and Helen, and six brothers, Lyman, Lawrence, Hans, Ernest, Clarence, and Arthur.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Burial was in Luther Valley Cemetery. Visitation was from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
