Tommy M. Butts, age 68 of Brodhead, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, while being cared for with love, by his best friend, Susie Coplien. Tom was born on December 3rd, 1955 at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL, the son of Frank and Annette (Zimmerman) Butts. He attended Brodhead High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Marines, where he served from 1975 to 1984. Tom was a very proud Marine. He worked at Woodbridge Corp for many years, and also worked at Stoughton Trailers in Brodhead. Tom happily retired in 2018. In his retirement years, he worked at the Janesville Gazette delivering newspapers in Brodhead. He was voted “Best Newspaper Delivery Guy” by many of his subscribers. He enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard. He loved history, his music and was an avid sports fan, his favorites being the LA Lakers, NY Yankees and the Badgers. He enjoyed spending time with nephews, Travis, Sky and Trevor and niece, Ella. He also dearly loved his Yorkie puppies. Tom’s proudest accomplishments were being a Marine and spending 32 loving years with his soulmate, Susie.

Tom will be sadly missed by his significant other of 32 years, Susan (Susie) Coplien, daughter, Kelly Douglas; siblings: Daniel Butts, Marsha (Ralph) Burgener, James (Cathy) Butts, Eric Markham and Rian Markham. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved Yorkie, Maggie.

A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at EVERSON Funeral Home in Brodhead. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in his memory.

A special “Thank You” to SSM Hospice, The Veterans Administration, Pastor Francois, Marsha, Trevor, Cindy, Robert, Monica and Travis and all of our family and friends that helped us through this trying time.

The greater the love, the greater the grief. I will love you forever, Tom. Till we meet again. Rest In Peace. Love, Susie
